Interested in running for office?

YOU’RE IN THE RIGHT PLACE!

In order to nominate yourself to run for an elected position with the Students’ Association of Medicine Hat College (SAMHC), you must first watch the four modules below, as well as complete a short quiz to test your knowledge. Once you have passed the quiz, you will receive a certificate of completion. You’ll need to hold on to this in order to complete your nomination package.

MODULE ONE: Introduction to SAMHC

MODULE ONE: Introduction to SAMHC explores the core of the Students’ Association of Medicine Hat College (SAMHC). We’ll dive into our mission, vision, and values that guide everything we do—ensuring that we stay focused on serving and representing students. You’ll also learn about the key skills and expectations required for leadership positions, preparing you to step into an executive or council role. The module provides an overview of the executive positions, including their responsibilities and areas of impact, and the council positions, offering insight into the collaborative efforts needed to advocate for student needs. Whether you’re interested in taking on a leadership role or just curious about how SAMHC works, this module is your first step toward understanding how you can get involved and make a difference.

MODULE TWO: Governance & Structure

MODULE TWO: Governance & Structure provides a breakdown of the SAMHC’s operating structure. We’ll discuss the role of the Executive Team, the work of the Student Association Council, the support of the staff, and dive into the governing documents of the Association.

MODULE THREE: SAMHC Advocacy & Representation

MODULE THREE: SAMHC Advocacy & Representation is an overview of how we advocate for students at all levels- from local campus issues to multiple levels of government. As a student leader, you’ll be empowered to represent the needs and concerns of your peers, working with administration, government, and external organizations to create positive change. 

MODULE FOUR: SAMHC Elections

MODULE FOUR: SAMHC Elections takes an in-depth look at how and when elections are held at the SAMHC. Find out all you need to know about running for SAMHC Executive positions as well as the Council Representative positions.
